Youth Wrestling
After a two-year absence, the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation Kids Folkstyle State Wrestling Championships was again held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. Hudson had 9 youth wrestlers qualify for this year’s event.
All the wrestlers did a wonderful job representing the Hudson community at this annual event. This opportunity allows these individuals to wrestle in front a few thousand fans in an arena with 16 full sized mats.
The club had two sisters finish 6th in their respective bracket to come home with a trophy.
Kylie Simpson (8th grader) lost in the quarterfinals and wrestled back through the consolation side as she finished out her youth folkstyle career. She capped off her weekend with a 3-3 record.
Katy Simpson (6th grader) lost in the semifinals to the eventual state champion and finished the day with a 2-3 record.
Colton Steingraber (5th grader) lost a tough match in the consolation bracket just missing out on the podium and finished the day with 4-2.
Chance Munger (5th grader) went 3-2 and performed well on the big stage as a first year wrestler.
There were 3 Hudson who finished with a 2-2 record and did not place losing tough matches consolation round: Tanner Henzler (5th grader), Mary Prescott (7th grader) and Joey Spadino (8th grader).
Also representing Hudson were and Jake Simpson (4th grader) and Mike Kelly (8th grader) who each went 0-2 on the day but wrestled excellent with goals of returning to state next season.
